Prof. Dr. Reiner Braun, TUM
Prof. Dr. Reiner Braun is Full Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance (W3, permanent) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) School of Management and Academic Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial and Financial Studies. From 2013 to 2015, he was an associate professor at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and he completed his habilitation at TUM between 2007 and 2013. He was a visiting scholar at the Saïd Business School at Oxford University and at the Entrepreneurship Education Colloquium at Harvard Business School. He obtained his doctorate from the Schumpeter School of Business and Economics in Wuppertal.
In professional practice, Prof. Dr. Reiner Braun has been Chairman of the Advisory Board and co-founder of Equation AG, a multi-asset management holding company in the private capital markets sector, since 2020. Previously, he was a founding partner of Surplus Invest GmbH, a venture capital firm, and served as Executive Assistant to the Chief Investment Officer of Allianz Investment Management SE.
His key publications include papers in high-ranking journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing and the Review of Finance. Prof. Dr. Braun's current research projects focus on topics such as the prediction of private equity fund performance using machine learning and the analysis of individual manager performance in the private equity sector. His scientific excellence has been recognized by numerous awards, including membership in the National Academy of Sciences (acatec) and the Private Equity Research Consortium (PERC).
Prof. Dr. Braun is a native German speaker, fluent in English and has a very good knowledge of Spanish.
